Flavours of the region and the season.

The Eatery is a casual dining experience that celebrates the delicious flavours of food and beverage that is grown, raised and produced in Northland, New Zealand. From Mangawhai to Cape Reinga (Tai Tokerau) the pickings are rich so we let the seasons drive our menu. We offer lots of small plates and sharing options which feature the changing flavours of each season. The menu is designed to be a flexible, all-day eating experience so you can choose how you want to enjoy it.

With attentive, unpretentious service we invite you to relax in a lovely historic venue, whether you’re just popping in for coffee or choose to stay longer and enjoy a meal and drinks.

Keeping dishes simple and focusing on what is at its very best, we love to express the vibrant and evolving story of this region with each plate, and we print our menu daily which keeps us constantly creative. Conscious cooking also guides our approach, favouring sustainable ingredients wherever possible, using as much of the plant or protein as possible and adopting low waste practices.

And to drink.

Our drinks list is also made up of predominantly Northland beverages. From local juices by the glass, healthful tonics like kombucha to Northland blended teas and award-winning Max Coffee. Our local range of soft drinks is complimented with New Zealand made organic juices.

For many years the wonderful Northland climate has been attracting talented winemakers to the region. The result is a vast range of beautiful wines that all express unique flavour profiles of the local environment. Our wine list is 100% Northland and proudly boasts some well-known and many lesser-known drops from boutique estates.  The selection evolves as do the vintages, just like the Eatery menu.

Craft beer is emerging in Northland and we’re excited to feature local brews as they become available. The well-loved McLeod’s brewery is there, along with some new players on the scene, we’re alongside this hoppy journey as it unfolds.

We're open every day.

The Eatery is open 7 days a week from 11 am, until 6 pm Monday to Thursday and then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday we’re open late for dinner and dessert.

We welcome walk-ins at any time and generally don’t take bookings for most areas of the Eatery. For groups of between 10 and 24 people, we have the Oval room and the View Room that may accommodate your requirements so please call to discuss on 09 4594957.
